It's a fiver (for Friday, but on Saturday)

It's that time of the week again - when we look at the things of the week and say "Congrats we made it through!!" Well at least I do anyway!

Thanks to http://www.kidsmathgamesonline.com/pictures/clipart.html for the number pictures
Inspired by all of y'all's new bulletin boards, I'm giving my reading and writing boards a revamp. They aren't done yet, as I'm slowly getting the kids to help.  It is after all their classroom too!
So far we've made a tree (coconut of course, as the kids are mostly from Samoa, Rarotonga, and Tonga), and some giant book covers of books we love.

Here the kids are starting to paint our reading tree
HOW BORING!!! But our tree is up!
It's starting to take shape!!
Hopefully this week wont be quite as busy and we will be able to put up some of our learning and show you all next week!

Our whole team (100+ kids and 5 teachers) headed over the road yesterday to listen to some authors talk about their books as part of the Storylines festival.  We heard four authors/poets/musicians talk about their love of books and all things literature.  I really hope our kids came away inspired! I sure did.

Dr Darryn Joseph
John Farrell came all the way from New York to share some of his music with us.  We are possibly going to start up a penpal dealio with a 5th grade class from over there!

I'm loving the way Mrs Z is teaching math to our class at the moment.  Being able to team teach with her this year has been such a blessing! I think I am learning so much more about teaching math than I ever have before.  Plus, the kids are loving that they are able to learn math by using lego and standing on tables!!  Say what?!

Equal additions in case you were wondering... Normally we SIT at our desks, rather than stand on them!!

Something random that I'm loving right now - Well to be perfectly honest I have loved it for a long time, but have just used it heaps today - is SKYPE! I love that today I talked to my Mama, who is over on the East Coast of the USA, and my sister, who is in Oregon.  AND I've talked do my daddy (yup, I'm old and still say daddy) who lives 3.5 hours away ALL FOR FREE!!! I love a good deal, and free is the best kind.
Here's a pic of me and my crazy sister last year at Christmas time
I'm looking for new followers! I'm a bit of a geek, but I LOVE it when I get an email saying that someone new is following me, or that they have left a message on a post!  It really makes my day.  SO as an incentive to get following, when we get to 50 (that's not many) bloglovin followers we will have an "All about New Zealand" goodies giveaway!  It will include some treats, and things only found on this tiny island nation.  Get following and as soon as we hit 50, it will be all on!!

Head on over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to let us know your Five for Friday!

Til next time!
