Kids are awesome!

This afternoon we have our home-school conferences for the second half of the year.  We give the parents their child's report, and talk with them about the child's next learning steps in reading, writing, and numeracy. I don't always like this time of the year, but there are moments that are just plain AWESOME!!

I'll be here at my bean table for the next 4ish hours to talk to my parents about how much progress their child has made so far this year, and I have a feeling that a lot of them are going to be proud of their child.  I know I am proud!

All my year 5's from last year are in The E-Z class this year, and I love catching up with parents for the second year in a row.  There are even some parents that I have seen three years in a row - I had older brothers and sisters in 2011.

Yup it's true - Kids are awesome!

  1. It is so nice to have a child for a second year (usually) and know the parents. Good luck with your meetings.

    1. I agree! And the kids I've had for two years now are super cool dudes too! I'm going to really miss them next year when they move to the intermediate classes - or worse, leave our school and go to the intermediate down the road! (Our school goes right up to year 8 (grade 7) and highschool in NZ goes for 5 years - years 9-13 (grades 8-12))

    1. Thanks Gary! Yes life is definitely easier when you only have to spend half your time reteaching routines! My problem is that I change my mind on how I want my class to run each year, so I have to try not to confuse them all!
