I'm procrastinating... But what's new?!

Yup, I'm procrastinating.  I'm SOOOO close to finishing my Basic facts, Number Knowledge, and Place Value MEGA pack.  It's nearly 100 pages long, and is taking FOREVER to complete.  I might need some help proofreading, so if you're keen (it can be used by anyone teaching grades 1-7) leave me a message below!!

Any way, as I was saying, I am procrastinating, and so I'm linking up with The Teaching Tribune for the final summer Monday Meet Me.

I think the only one I need to explain is number three.  My fourth year of teaching I moved to a new city, and started teaching at the school I'm still at now (4 years later).  I had a REALLY hard class of 6/7th graders.  One of my 7th graders had a real mouth on her, and had been mouthing off to one of the 6th grade boys.  He took offence and told his sister, who was in 10th grade.  One Friday she brought two of her friends in to the school and that afternoon they barged into my class after the bell went and did their best to attack this girl.  Scariest thing I've ever had to deal with before.  Thankfully only one of the girls made it inside before I blocked the door, and my buddy teacher came running pretty quickly to pull them apart.  I've never been more thankful for being tall and large than I was that day.  The girls couldn't get past me.  I was heading home to my parents place (3.5 hours south) that afternoon and managed to make it to the end of the driveway before bawling my eyes out from shock.  I hated every day in that class, but am so thankful for all the lessons that horrible class taught me.

Make sure you enter this giveaway.  It closes soon!!

  1. Watching people be attacked is scary and having to think on the spot how to stop it is worse! I had a similar worse experience except a parent showed up to beat up her daughter. Those things never leave us, but as you said horrible teaching experiences teach us A LOT!

  2. Luckily, I teach 2nd grade because I would hate to have to break up fights. I'm glad your student was okay.
    P.S. I'm willing to help proofread (LaurenDewees@gmail.com)

I can't believe you had high school girls try to beat up one of your students! That's crazy! Also, scrambled eggs on toast is THE BEST breakfast :)
